Tris, Four, Caleb, Peter, Christine, and Marcus travel to Amity, in search for what's left of the abnegation members. Amnity agree and offer refugee to any faction as long as they abide to their rules erudite and dauntless traitors arrive although tris, Caleb, and Tobias escape onto a train loaded with factionlss members one of the members though is... Edward, Edward escorts tris and Tobias to a factionless safe zone. their leader is no other than Tobias mother... Evelyn who was supposedly dead. tris overhears a conversation between Evelyn and Tobias, pleading him to convince the dauntless to join the factionless 

 

Tris and Tobias travel to candor headquarters upon arriving they are arrested and are inflicted, The truth serum Tobias admits to leaving abnegation to flea from Marcus abuse and he anticipated being factionless. Until he met tris. tris however admits to shooting and killing will Christina now despise of her.

 

I think veronica roth builds suspense as the book goes on. insurgent is a lot different than divergent, divergent was more about choosing sides and choosing your friends in insurgent tris now has to makes choices and she knows that every choice has a consequence. tris knows war is breaking out and in a time of war sides must be chosen. their are internal and external conflicts throughout the book. tris however knows their is a bigger picture she knows her mom and dad did not die for no reason. Marcus has answers but he is not willing to give them up.
