playlist for character- Thomas from The Maze Runner

I picked the song all by myself because in the start of the book Thomas the main character of the book is seen as a bad omen. When Thomas starts to have these original ideas and is gaining memory he is unlike'd by the others in the group, and staring things start to happen whithin the maze. In the song she is saying that she has "no one" and in sence that is the same as Thomas felt after the group neglected him.
For my second song i chose the sonic x theme song, In the book there are people called runners hat literaly run the maze trying to find a way out. Thomas eventualy becomes one of theses and becomes sucsessful in helping the cause and is trusted in the group. In the song the lyrics are saying "got to run fast", this is a perfect representation on what Thomas is doing in the maze because if he doesn't than he can have a grate chance of being killed or trapped in the maze.

For my third song i picked changes, i thought this a great song to go along with how Thomas grew through the book. Thomas became a leader and very well respected by the group through changing how he acts ands (spoiler alert) eventually lead them out of the maze. in the song it expresses changes , and Thomas went from hatted to a respected leader of the group, it say's a lot on how people in a dire situation can change quick.

For my fourth and final song i chose its the end of the world as we know it because when lots of bad things start to happen in the maze, and more boys are being killed Thomas must figure out a plan to get out of the maze. (spoiler alert) when they do get out of the maze they figure out that the world is almost destroyed. In the book the world is a desolate waist land and in the sing it is saying the world is ending.

Tears of a Tiger

Tarynn Grundy
Tears of a Tiger Playlist

Hey Andy, I know you are going through tough times right now. These songs that I have chosen perfectly explain and will help your situation; they also capture your personality. Hopefully you will listen and enjoy them.

1.       “Basketball” by Kurtis Blow

I choose this song for you because you love basketball so much. Basketball is a positive and negative in your life. It was after a basketball game that your best friend, Robert, died. Basketball has helped to keep you alive. Basketball is a positive in your life because you got to play with your best friend. After Robert died you adopted his position, center; I know that made you feel proud. You said Rob would have wanted you to have his position. “But basketball, instead of bein’ harder, got easier. It’s like I could work out my feelings on the basketball court. The coach gave me his position-center” (48).The song I have chosen for you brings joy to me and I’m sure it will do the same for you. “I like slam dunks, take me to the hoop. My favorite play is the alley oop, I like the pick and roll. I like the five and go ‘Cause its basketball, uh Mister Kurtis Blow.” I can just imagine you playing ball to it.

2.       “So Alone” by Men At Large

Andy everyone can tell that you aren’t dealing with Rob’s death well, we know you’ve had a very rough time with it. Your thoughts are very suicidal and depressing. An example of that would be “I feel so alone, I should have died not Rob” (39). The song I chose for you captures all of your feelings into one thought. One line of the song seizes your thoughts perfectly. The line is “Now I just can’t believe that you’re gone and I’m so alone.”

3.       “Come Close” by Common featuring Mary J. Blidge

Andy, you have such a strong love for Keisha, and you appreciate her so much. The love you have for her is beautiful, especially since you’re in high school. In a meeting with your therapist you talked about your feelings for Keisha. “Me and Keisha are tight. She’s my lady” (75). I thought that was so cute. The affection you show for her is glorious. That is why I thought this song was perfect for you. “You and I can affect the world, I’m tired of the fast lane, I want you to have my last name.” The song definitely puts your feelings towards Keisha into one complete thought.

4.       “Summertime” by Will Smith

"Summertime” by Will Smith basically talks about having a good time. A good time is what you need to make yourself feel sane; you’re so tense. It seems as if sometimes you don’t have any life in you. Before Rob passed you would go out. “We just gonna chill, we might try to find a party” (6). That quote is just one example of the upbeat party mindset you had. After Rob died that personality no longer existed. The song, "Summertime", is so upbeat and live. One simple quote explains that happy fun life. “It’s late in the day, and I ain’t been on the court yet. Hustle to the mall, to get me a short set. Yeah I got on the sneaks, but I need a new pair. Cause basketball courts in the summer got the girls there.”

5.       “The Storm is Over Now” by R Kelly

This song, I feel really shines on your situation that you are going through. Andy, you’ve been taking Rob’s death very hard and you’ve been letting it get to you. “It’s dark where I am, and I cannot find the light. There are shadows all around me and my heart is full of fright” (63). You’ve just been in a very dark place, and hopefully you’ll be able to get out of it. The song I chose for you explains that there is light at the end of the road. “The storm is over and I can see the sunshine.”

Whenever you need to reflect on your situation, think about life, or just have some fun listen to this playlist.

Sincerely,

Tarynn

Just Another Hero Playlist

Jack Krasinsky,

I know that you are feeling very lonely now. Your past actions just even worsen that. You probably don't remember your past actions but they were not very bright decisions. You need to change from your past. I have made a playlist for you that describes your past actions and what you can do to change from that and become better. Listen to it and it will change your mind into being a better and smarter person.

Bad Boys by Inner Circle is the first song on your playlist. You used to be a bad boy back then. Back then is last school year. You did all kinds of bad things. You pulled the fire alarms, stole items, and even brang a gun to school and threatened people. I want you to listen to this song because it will tell you what will happen if you do those bad things again. It will also tell you what the consequences will be. It will tell you not to do it ever again.  Some of your interests back then and maybe even now we're being bad but you need to change that. This song describes your interest and you as a person. This song describes you through the whole last school year. You were a bad boy who did many bad things (such as pulling fire alarms) but you need to change that. You had a great interest of being bad. You're a bad boy with interests that are crazy (getting in trouble, pulling fire alarms, stealing, etc.). "And Jack, red-eyed and crazed, standing at the door. Pointing an AK-47 assault rifle directly at them all." Jack, why would you bring an AK-47 to school and hold people hostage. This quote is telling me that you are a "bad boy" with cruel criminality. Only the very, very bad boys would do that. If you didn't do that, then you wouldn't be where you are at right now. The book indirectly tells us that you are a "bad boy" because you brang a AK-47 to school, pulled fire alarms, stole items, etc.

"Huh!
Bad Boys!
What'cha want? What'cha want?
What'cha gonna do."

This quote is relating to you. You are a bad boy. You wanted the attention and the fame. You didn't know what you were going to do when they were going to come for you. But you are going to change that. This is basically what the quote is saying.

Lonely by Akon is the next song on your playlist. You were lonely throughout the whole last school year. You had nobody. You might even still be lonely. This song should convince you to not be lonely because being lonely is so depressing and not good. It should convince you to be social which will make you happy and healthy. This song tells you how bad it is to be lonely. That is why this song will convince you to try to be social, talk to people, and make new friends. This will make you less lonely. You were very lonely throughout last school year, so this would of reduced your loneliness last school year. Lonely is the one word that describes you throughout your school years. You had nobody. That's why you need to be stop being lonely and find somebody by being social. I hope this song convinces you to become more social. "'He's usually just fun-loving and noisy. We've learned to ignore him.'" I get that you are ignored all the time. That's probably why you are so lovely all the time. The book tells me indirectly that you are lonely, too. You are always ignored and rarely does someone talk to you. The song, Lonely, is describing you at that school. The book quote is also telling us that you are very lonely at school.

"Lonely I'm Mr Lonely,
I have nobody,
For my own.
I'm so lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely,
I have nobody,
For my own.
I'm so lonely,"

This quote relates to you, too. You were very lonely at school. You had nobody (like the lyrics say). You tried to become social but you just couldn't. You we're always lonely. But that will change. This quote is saying all of this. This quote is telling us what you feel when you are at school.

The Outsiders by Eric Church is another song on your playlist. Jack, you are an outsider compared to everybody at the school. In that school, you were just an outsider trying to get attention but it didn't work. The word, outsider, describes you very well because most of the time nobody talked or played with you. Actually, most of the time nobody did anything with you. You did your own thing and the other people did their own thing. Everybody in that school probably thought of you as an outsider but you weren't trying to be an outsider. You were trying to be a somebody but it didn't work (sadly). I hope this song convinces you that being an outsider is bad (not recommended). I hope this song convinces you to try to be a somebody. "'The kids call him Crazy Jack, but he's harmless.," Jack, it's true that you are an outsider because only outsiders have "bad" nicknames like Crazy Jack. Outsiders also have bad nicknames. You probably feel like an outsider because they only call you Crazy Jack and not your real name. This quote tells us that you are an outsider which is the name of the song. You need to stop being an outsider and be a someone. This song is perfectly explained by the book quote.

"They’re the in crowd, we’re the other ones.
It’s a different kind of cloth that we’re cut from."

This quote also relates to you. You are the guy not in the crowd. You are not made like the others. You are the different person. You are the guy nobody knows. But I hope that will change soon. Also, the song is perfectly explained by this quote. It describes you as a person.

Motivation by Kelly Rowland is a song that I have also added to your playlist. You need motivation. If you had motivation, you wouldn't be like this. You would be a smart and happy somebody. You wouldn't have done all the bad things you had done this school year. You wouldn't have pulled the fire alarms, stole items, or brang a gun to school. You would have done little to no bad things and mostly all good things. Motivation is the key for you. Your interests of being bad will be no more because motivation will prevent you from being a bad boy and make you a "good boy". You should listen to this song because it would help you become a better person. Perhaps, this song is your motivation. Maybe, this whole playlist is your motivation. It don't matter what your motivation is. As long as you have a motivation, you are fine. You will do better than before. "'Made me feel like dirt-checking my hands for poison.'" This book quote is telling us that you have no motivation. You only have haters that put you down. You need a lover that will motivate you through hard times when you need it the most. Everybody needs motivation because it can help them in a big way. This quote goes with the song because this quote is suggesting that you should get some "motivation" which is the title of the song. Motivation is key to you and it will even help you out.

"Push harder, you're almost there now."
"You can't stop there."
"Baby, I'ma be your motivation."

This quote is also relating to you. You need someone to tell you to push harder and don't stop. You need someone to tell you to keep going, try harder, and don't give up with whatever you are doing. You need a motivation and you will get one. Thia song is telling you to find a motivation because a motivation will help you with everything.

Your Attention by Meredith Brooks is the last song on your playlist. All you really wanted was attention but you never got it. If you had attention, all of those bad things wouldn't have happened. Good things would've happened. Attention was the one thing you were trying to get but you got none. You thought no attention means no one likes you but it doesn't. It means that you still need to do more to grab people's (someone's) attention. The lack of attention you recieved influenced the bad actions you did throughout last school year. A small thing, such as attention, can cause big and bad things. You should listen to this song because it will remind you how important attention is. This will make you want to try even more to get (more) attention. This song could help you get attention which will help you make better and smarter decisions. "'I will no longer be ignored!' Jack cried out. 'It's time to listen to what I have to say.'" Jack, I know you are always ignored but that could changed. You have to make a statement which will make you a somebody. You need attention. Matter in fact, everybody needs attention. Attention could help you in a big way like motivation will. This song can help you if you listen to it. It will tell you what to do. This book quote is a good example of how to get attention. This book quote is telling you to stand up for yourself and make a statement that you are proud of. If you do and keep doing this, that attention you recieved will help you in a tremendous way, even when you need it the most.

"Baby, what is wrong with you,
Can't you see I want you around."

This quote is relating to you. You need attention. Everyone needs attention. You need to try to find a way to get attention. Attention is a big factor in everybody's lives. I hope you find attention in your life. This song is telling you that everybody needs attention, even you. It is saying that if you find that attention, then it will help you through life and make you a somebody.

Overall, I made this playlist to help you as a person. Please listen to it! It could change your life. It will help you. I hope this playlist influences you and helps you change your life in a good way. When you listen to these songs, think about what they're saying because it might affect or impact you. Those (big) words (they say) in the song might actually help you in a big way. All in all, I hope this playlist that I have made for you helps you in a big way.

                                                                                                                                                   Sincerely,
                                                                                                                                               Ishaan Patel

Tears Of A Tiger movie soundtrack

I've chosen a few songs that I honestly think should be included in the soundtrack for the movie, " Tears of a Tiger," based on the book, Tears of a Tiger.
Basketball by Lil Bow Wow ft. Jermaine Dupree, Fabulous, Fundisha

I chose this song because basketball plays a big role in the book. Basketball is what the boys love to do, it's what bought them together as friends. They tend to joke around about who's better, but they all share a common feeling. They LOVE it. In the song, there's a part that says, " they're playing basketball, we love that basketball." It's repeated alot throughout the song to show the passion that the artist has towards basketball. In the book, there's a quote that says, "Hey, Rob! Live game, man. You be flyin' with the hoops, man. Swoosh! Ain't nobody better 'cept maybe me." Rob responds, " Deam on superstar, basketball is what I do!" This shows that basketball means alot to them, therefore this song should be included in a scene when they're doing what they love.

We Are Young by Fun ft. Janelle Monae

I chose this song to be apart of the soundtrack because in the book, when the boys finished their game, they wanted to go out and have some fun to let loose a little. They'd been working hard all week and it was finally the weekend. In the book, in a conversation between Andy and Gerald, it says, " We might try to find a party, or we might just finish these beers and let the party find us." This quote shows that they wanted to relax. In the song, it says, " Tonight, we're young. So let's set the world on fire, we can burn brighter than the sun." The artist is basically saying have fun while you're young, which is what the boys were attempting to do, without thinking about the consequences.

I'll Be Missing You by Puff Daddy ft. Faith Evans

This sound could be apart of the movie soundtrack to show Andy's sadness about Rob's death. He knows that Rob is in a better place, but he misses his best friend. In the song it says, " It's kinda hard with you not around, know you up in heaven smilin' down. "  These lyrics are trying to give it a positive side to the death, acknowledging the fact that the bestfriend is in heaven, smiling down on everyone else. In the book, Andy is talking to a counselor about Rob and wants to break down, however he keeps it together because Rob wouldn't want him to break down.  In a scene after Rob's death, maybe Andy could sit in his room and listen to this in thought of Rob.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day

I think this song should be apart of the soundtrack for the movie because it represents loneliness. Andy is left to deal with his grief alone. His other friends tell him to let it go and move on with life, but he can't live with the fact that he killed his bestfriend. Throughout the song it says, " I walk alone, I walk alone. " In the book, nobody was really there for Andy when he needed them the most, which led him to his tragic decision. His pain was too strong and it slowly, but surely took over his life.. literally. One day, Andy is talking to the reader, he says, " I was on my way to school, but forgot where I was going. So i came back here to sit on my lumpy, linty, bedspread, wishin' I had never been born, strokin' the smooth, cool barrel of my father's shot gun. It's very, very quiet. I'm sorry for all I've done - so sorry, ... so very, very sor-" Andy couldn't handle the guilt any longer.

Hurt by Christina Aguilera

Lastly, I think this song should be on the soundtrack becasue a few of Andys's friends, mainly his girlfriend Kesha, were sorry for not being there when he dropped hints that he needed them everyday. However, it's already too late and they can't tell him. In the song it says, " If I knew what I knew today, I would hold you in my arms, I would take the pain away." This could very well represent how the other characters felt, being in disbelief at the same time. In Kesha's letter to Andy she says, " You can't be dead. But I went to your funeral. I felt your coffin. It was warm and woody, but you couldn't have been in it. " She doesn't want to believe that he's really gone.. however she was one of the people that told him to let go of his bestfriend and left him when he was helpless and hopeless.

Playlist Assignment- The Hunger Games

Katniss,
I know you went through a lot when you went through the games. I think you were really brave for volunteering your life for your sister. You probably will always be scarred from the games. I don't feel like the capitol treats anyone from the districts right. I have picked out five songs that I feel you would find as your favorite songs.

In the first song "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys says, “this girl is on fire.” This symbolizes when you and Peeta are riding on their chariot during the tribute parade before the tributes enter the Hunger Games. The dress that Cinna designed for you was made to symbolize coal from district 12. The capitol then called you “the Girl on Fire” every time you were seen or talked about. Cinna says to you,"Katniss, the girl who was on fire"(67). I feel like this showed the capitol that you were not afraid of anything. Since you looked like you weren't afraid of fire, this showed that you weren't afraid of anything. You showed that you were brave.

In the song "Coal Miner's Daughter" by Loretta Lynn says, "Well, I was born a coal miner's daughter." I feel like you can relate to this song really well.  You once told me "My father knew and he taught me some before he was blown to bits in a mine explosion"(5). I know that you are going through a lot since your father passed away while mining. I feel that you had a good relationship with your father because you haven't talk to your mother a lot since he passed away. I feel liked since your father died and you don't talk to your mother a lot, you have became more responsible because you take care of your sister.

I feel that this song explains your relationship with Peeta. It says in "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, "people fall in love in mysterious ways." The capitol forced you and Peeta to be together after the games. Haymitch says, "Your only defense can be you were so madly in love you weren't responsible for your actions"(357).Since you saved Peeta and yourself during the games and rebelled against the capitol, it showed how much you cared about Peeta. It shows that Peeta is in love with you throughout the games. Now, the capitol will always be watching to see if you are actually in love with Peeta or if you actually saved them both just to rebel against them.

When you volunteered for Prim during the reaping, it showed your unconditional love for your sister. When you were about to leave Prim and your mother, you said, "...we're all hugging one another so hard it hurts and all I'm saying is 'I love you. I love you both'"(36). This showed how much you didn't want to go to the games bur you volunteered to go in her place just because you felt that she should live her life. In "Unconditionally" by Katy Perry it says, "Walk through the storm I would do it all because I love you, I love you." The storm was the games and you chose to go to the games instead of your sister because of your unconditional love for her.

At the end of the games, you wouldn't win the games without Peeta. Usher says in his song "Without You," "I will never win this game without you." You would not kill Peeta but you would let him win without you. Both of you couldn't live without each other, so you both decided to rebel against the capitol. When you were about to win the games, you said, "Because if he dies, I'll never go home, not really. I'll spend the rest of my life in this arena trying to think my way out"(343). This shows how much you really care about Peeta and how you wouldn't be able to live without him.

I hope you consider listening to these songs!

            Sincerely,
                     Hunter Lamb

The Giver

Jonas,

I know you are in a better place now with Gabriel, you did a good job on leaving the community. The elders were wrong to make everything the same here are some songs that fit into your life. hopefully they can help you get pass the hard times in your life.

Life Keeps Moving On -Ben Rector
You have had a lot of hardships in your life. When you were assigned to be the next receiver you didn't know what was going to happen. When you found out what it meant to be released was really to be killed, you didn't know what to think and then you left the community with Gabriel ''when your sure your world is coming down around you life keeps moving on''. it was possible, But what did that matter? if he stayed, his life was no longer worth living (page 196 2 paragraph) Jonas life keeps going on, its a part of life to go through hard moments in your life you went through those hardships for a reason to see the reality of the world you live in.

Chris Brown - With you
This song reminds me of how you felt something very strong for your friends Asher and Fiona, but you felt something special for Fiona. On your journey he transmitted the memories to Gabriel to keep him happy and what helped Jonas keep going was the memory of Fiona I don't want nobody else, without you, there's no one left then, ''And I think I knew that she shouldn't. but I wanted it so terribly. I could feel the wanting all through me.'' Fiona did feel the same just that she couldn't express her feelings.

The United States National Anthem
This song reminds me of the bravery Jonas had throughout the whole story. Even though he was only a kid he showed tremendous bravery, having to bare in all the sad, painful, and fearful memories. ''oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave this song displays the bravery that Jonas faced to have a better life for his community and also the soldiers that risked their life for this country's independence ''lie down,'' he said. ''its time, I suppose. I cant shield you forever. You'll have to take it on eventually. this I where you showed your eagerness to learn and where willing to face the worst things in life to help others.

Michael Jackson - Earth song
Jonas shows his faithfulness towards the animals and the earth. the giver explains to him that the mythical creatures they believe where just fiction where in fact real and lily's comfort object was a elephant the same object they gave Gabriel so he could go to sleep "what about animals (what about it) we've turned kingdoms into dust (what about us) what about elephants (what about us) have we lost their trust." Jonas stops their friend's from playing the "war game" as he knows now its real "Don't play it anymore." he knows now the effects of war. the amount of people that die for simple disagreement. Jackson explains why we kill animals just for their riches.

Bruno Mars - Count on me
Jonas you have many friends but your main friend throughout the story where Gabriel and the Giver, Jonas you told the baby Gabriel everything how your lessons where going on with the giver you where the only one that could put him to sleep Gabriel was special he could also receive memories. Jonas risked his life to save Gabriel he committed serious crimes in the community to save him. "for Gabriel there would have been no life at all. so there had not really been a choice Jonas you knew Gabriel was special and he wanted a future for the baby. I hope these songs help you out.

Playlist Assignment - The Maze Runner

Thomas,

Since you are one of the runners I recommend that you listen to the song called "Running" by No Doubt.  This song talks about running all the time and running to your future.  You are constantly running in the maze to try and find out a way to escape.  In the song it says, “Running as fast as we can.” This relates to you when you are stuck in the maze at night and were bring chased by grievers.  In the book it says, “Pounding the stone with his feet he fled as fast as he possibly could" (132).  You ran very fast in order to save your life. This song would remind you that you have to keep on running.

Sometimes it must be difficult for you considering you were the second to last one to ever come into the maze.  People always blame you for the changing.  I think that you should listen to is "I'm Not the Only One" by Sam Smith to remind you that Teresa is different just like you.  You and Teresa aren’t like the other kids in the maze.  In the song it says, “I know I’m not the only one.”  You told the Keepers, “Teresa and I have a gift.  We’re telepathic!  We can talk to each other in our freaking heads” (307).  This song would remind you that you’re not crazy and you’re not the only one that can hear voices in your head.

You should also listen to the song "Skyscraper" by Demi Lavato. This song is about a person that is not letting someone else bring them down.  One of the lines in the song says, “You can take everything I have.”  You can relate to this because the creators wiped away your memory before they put you in the maze.  In the book when you first come up out of the box it says, “Emptiness ate away at his insides, quickly replaced by a sadness that hurt his head” (11).  You can listen to this song whenever you are mad at the creators.  It will remind you that even though they took everything away from you can still rise up and find a way out.

In order to escape from the maze you have to be able to survive. So, "Survivor" by Destiny’s Child would be another good song to listen to.  While you were in the maze you had to keep on going even if you thought there weren’t any solutions.  For example when you said, “Don’t give up, Chuck.  We’re going to solve this thing, and get out of here” (195).   In the song it says, “I’m going to make it. I will survive.”  You can listen to this song when you feel like quitting or when you feel like there is no hope in getting out.  This song tells you that you can survive and that you are strong.

You try every day to remember anything that you can.  You try to figure out why you are stuck inside this huge maze. The song "Trapped" by Josephine talks about someone who is trapped and can’t get out.  One of the lines in this song says, “It’s all my fault, I can’t hide it.  I’ve tried to run, I can’t fight it.”  You also told the Keepers during the gathering that, “Teresa and I helped design the maze” (307).  You can relate to this song because you feel like it is all your fault that you and everyone else are stuck in the maze.  This song explains what is happening in your life.  You go out there are run but you can’t fight off the grievers or the maze.

I hope you consider listening to these songs!
          Sincerely,
          Maddie Clinch
